Congestion Control Principles

چکیده
Internet-Drafts are working documents of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), its areas, and its working groups. Note that other groups may also distribute working documents as Internet-Drafts. Internet-Drafts are draft documents valid for a maximum of six months and may be updated, replaced, or obsoleted by other documents at any time. It is inappropriate to use Internet-Drafts as reference material or to cite them other than as "work in progress." Abstract 1. Introduction.

RFC 5033 Specifying New Congestion Control
The IETF’s standard congestion control schemes have been widely shown to be inadequate for various environments (e.g., high-speed networks). Recent research has yielded many alternate congestion control schemes that significantly differ from the IETF’s congestion control principles. Using these new congestion control schemes in the global Internet has possible ramifications to both the traffic ...

متن کاملCongestion Control Approaches Applied to Wireless Sensor Networks: A Survey
Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are a specific category of wireless ad-hoc networks where their performance is highly affected by application, life time, storage capacity, processing power, topology changes, the communication medium and bandwidth. These limitations necessitate an effective data transport control in WSNs considering quality of service, energy efficiency, and congestion control. ...
متن کاملNetwork Coding-based Congestion Control at Network Layer: Protocol Design and Evaluation
The paper proposes a congestion control protocol based on Network Coding (NC) operations for the butterfly topology. The proposed protocol defines XOR-based coding and decoding algorithms adapted to streams having different rates and characteristics, as well as a signalling protocol required for dynamic activation and deactivation of NC operations. Some general principles related to the integra...
متن کاملCongestion control in disruption-tolerant networks: A comparative study for interplanetary and terrestrial networking applications
Controlling congestion is critical to ensure adequate network operation and performance. That is especially the case in networks operating in challengedor extreme environments where episodic connectivity is part of the network’s normal operation. Consequently, the “pure” end-to-end congestion control model employed by the Internet is not adequate. Our goal is to study congestion control mechani...
